Of the Kingdom, In the Empire
As we approach a significant election, we're reminded of the profound wisdom in Romans 13. This passage challenges us to submit to governing authorities, recognizing that all authority comes from God. It's a call to balance our civic duties with our spiritual allegiance. We're urged to care more about God's kingdom than earthly empires, to do good, and to live counter-culturally like Jesus did. This doesn't mean blind obedience, but rather a posture of respect and prayer for those in authority, even when we disagree. As we navigate the complexities of politics, let's remember that our ultimate hope isn't in any candidate or party, but in Jesus who has already won the ultimate victory. How can we apply this perspective to bring more light and less heat to our political discourse?
