Before and After Photos… Looking Back to Move Ahead

This powerful exploration of Ephesians chapter 2 takes us on a journey from spiritual death to abundant life. We're invited to look honestly at our past - not to wallow in shame, but to magnify the wonder of God's mercy. Before Christ, we were spiritually dead on arrival, following three destructive paths: the ways of the world with its obsession over money, sex, and power; the deceptive guidance of Satan who uses guerrilla warfare tactics we often don't see; and our own malfunctioning moral compass driven by desires that became destructive drives. The stark reality is sobering - we were utterly incapable of rescuing ourselves. But here's where the beauty emerges: God, rich in mercy and motivated by great love, made us alive with Christ. This wasn't earned through our efforts or good behavior. It's pure grace - unmerited favor freely given. We're reminded that salvation is entirely God's work, not a collaborative effort where we contribute our 2 percent. This truth isn't meant to discourage us but to fuel profound gratitude. When we truly grasp how desperate our condition was and how completely God rescued us, joy and contentment flow freely. We're now God's masterpieces, created to do good works prepared for us in advance, working for the King of the universe in our new neighborhood of grace.
