Priceless Giveaways for New Members (Pt 3)
This message takes us into Ephesians chapter 1, revealing three transformative truths about our identity in Christ.
First, we've been told the truth—priceless, eternal truth that stands independent of our belief or acceptance. The gospel isn't about suspending reality but returning to it, and each of us has a unique story of when we first heard this word of truth.
Second, we've been issued a family ID through the Holy Spirit, who seals us as God's own possession. Like a driver's license proves our identity, the Holy Spirit is God's proof of ownership over our lives—we've been shrink-wrapped by the Spirit, marked as authentic children of the King. This seal also serves as a deposit, guaranteeing our future inheritance like an engagement ring promises a coming wedding.
Finally, we've been appointed to represent the King, chosen as His special portion before we were even born. We're walking billboards of God's character, recruited to play in the championship game of bringing glory to Him through how we live. The Westminster Shorter Catechism reminds us that our chief purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever—a calling that elevates us beyond any earthly privilege or connection to become living testimonies of His greatness.
