Celebrating 75

For the next 75…

As believers in Jesus Christ we are firsthand witnesses of God’s power, grace and blessing. Just like the Old Testament heroes of the faith who erected large stone memorials after experiencing a move of God, we too are called to remember God’s faithfulness and proclaim it to others. The Bible instructs us to praise God by sharing stories of His greatness and to pass them on to the next generation.

Stories of God’s Faithfulness

If you have a personal example about how God has moved in your life in a powerful way that impacted your faith please share your story by following the link below. We will be collecting these “Stories of God’s Faithfulness” from now until December 17th.  We plan to publish our stories in a book at the end of our 75th anniversary year so that we can share God’s faithfulness with each other and with those the Lord puts on our heart.

Other options for submitting your story:

  • Find a writing packet in the lobby

  • You can call the church office to request a scribe to whom you can dictate your story.

There are many ways that God demonstrates his love and faithfulness in our lives.  Here are a few examples that might help as you look back on your life and prepare to share your story.  If you have more than one story please submit a new form for each one. Please keep your story to one page or less in length and give each story a title if you are able.

  • Has God provided you with necessary funds, resources or a job at just the right time? Has He given you a good friend or a spouse who was an answer to prayer?

  • Has God helped you make an important decision or solve an urgent problem? Has He given you revelation about yourself or about Him to deepen your faith?

  • Has God protected you from harm by warning you or guiding you to safety? Has He been with you in a “storm of life” by providing emotional or spiritual protection?

  • Has God extended mercy to you when you messed up? How has He demonstrated His forgiveness or helped you to forgive others?

  • Has God healed you from physical disease or injury? Has He healed a broken relationship? Perhaps He has delivered you from a fear, addiction or unholy behavior or attitude. Has He removed the idols or “high places” that had replaced Him as your God?

  • Has God given you something that you know you didn’t deserve? Has He blessed you unexpectedly to show you His love?

  • Has God allowed you to learn a difficult but necessary lesson? Has He shown you a hard truth about yourself to convict you of sin or show you a biblical truth to help you grow in your faith?

  • Have you ever felt the presence of God? Have you seen His glory in nature or felt His touch during prayer or worship? Has He spoken to you directly through His Word, in a dream, in a sermon/message or through others?

  • POWER/STRENGTH - Has God shown you His power in turning around an impossible situation? Has He given you strength to endure hardship or boldness for standing in faith?

  • Has God given you a message of hope when you were discouraged? Has He encouraged you or lifted you up through a scripture passage, sign or message?

LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.
— Isaiah 25:1

75 Minutes of Service

As opportunities to help people occur, share the experience with your Gospel Community or small group. This will encourage others to be alert for opportunities in their life.

LakeView is a body of believers bound together by God’s love. Spending time together and serving one another is the primary way to share God’s love with others.

Phase 2

Phase two of 75 minutes of service is simple. Just be on the lookout for opportunities to help someone. As we go through our daily lives, we all encounter people who need help. Ask God to equip you to help people and to show you someone who will appreciate your help.

Here are some ideas on how you can to serve

  • Go grocery shopping for a sick neighbor

  • Drive someone to an appointment

  • Volunteer at your child's school

  • Visit someone who is home bound

  • Help someone with a home project

  • Send a get well card to a sick friend

  • Spend time with someone who is having a rough day

  • Anything else God puts on your heart to do for someone

Phase 1

Here are some ideas on how to spend time together

  • Have coffee and conversation

  • Have lunch together

  • Take a walk together or go to a park

  • Play games / cards

  • Go to an event / sports activity together

  • Invite them to Gospel Community / Bible Study

  • Work on a project together

  • Ask if they need help with something

  • Do something fun you both enjoy doing

Phase one of 75 minutes of service is not complicated. We ask you to hangout with a friend or acquaintance and share time together. We will communicate other opportunities for service in the future, but for now just enjoy some time with a friend. Think about someone you know who would appreciate a visit or needs help with a project. Call them and set up a time to get together in the next three weeks.
