Overseer Nominations

At LakeView, we have a Council of Overseers who provide:

  • Spiritual oversight (doctrine, teaching, worship, mission, vision, values)

  • Shepherding oversight (prayer, Gospel Communities, discipleship, discipline)

  • Governance oversight (church constitution and by-laws, nominating new Overseers, financial review)

The Members of LakeView affirm the appointment of new Overseers (also called Elders) at a congregational meeting. Our next meeting is April 28, and we have three Overseer nominations to share with you.

Dave Wilson

Dave grew up attending church, but really connected with God while attending Calvary Chapel San Diego and later Calvary Chapel Poway, CA. The systematic study of the Bible at Calvary Chapel opened Dave’s eyes and revealed God’s plan for salvation and life. Dave accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in October 1979.

After yielding to God, Dave was presented with many opportunities to grow and serve. He helped start Calvary Chapel Poway in 1980, where he served in various ministry areas. Dave and Linda began attending LakeView in June 2001 and have been in either a LifeGroup or Gospel Community since October 2001. Dave served as an elder at LakeView from January 2007 to April 2014 and has been volunteering to help in the LakeView office since May 2014.

Dave married his high school sweetheart, Linda, in 1969 while attending UW Madison. They have two married daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Dave and Linda lived in Janesville, Madison, Florida, Georgia, Guam, and San Diego before moving to Stoughton in 2001. Dave has a BS Electrical Engineering degree from UW Madison and a MSEE degree from San Diego State University. He spent 6 years as a Navy officer and 36 years in the software industry. Dave retired from Accuray in October 2013.

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. ~ Colossians 2:6-7 (NLTse)

Gary Cook

Gary’s family moved several times when he was growing up, partly due to his father being in the military.  After high school, Gary joined the US Navy and was ultimately stationed aboard a nuclear submarine in Pearl Harbor, HI. A fellow shipmate shared Jesus Christ with him and he became a believer. Shortly after this, Gary was introduced to a group called the Navigators. They helped him grow as a believer in Jesus Christ.

Gary met his wife, Colet, at a Navigator Bible study. After an interesting courtship, they were married and lived in Honolulu, where Gary was a student at the University of Hawaii. Colet and Gary were actively involved in Navigator ministries and in an Evangelical Free Church in Honolulu. After school, Colet and Gary moved to Lansing, Michigan where Gary worked as a lecturer at Michigan State University. Colet and Gary began foster parenting two young boys, Dakota and Alex. They ultimately adopted both of them.

In 1998, Colet and Gary moved to Wisconsin. Shortly thereafter, they started attending LakeView church. Colet and Gary have been involved in children’s and worship ministries at LakeView. Gary has led Bible studies, frequently plays guitar on the worship team, and has served as an elder. Gary is a researcher at the Wisconsin Center for Educational Research and will soon be retiring. Gary enjoys riding his road bike, playing guitar, writing in his journal, singing worship songs, and being out in nature with Colet.

John Fevig

Photo coming soon.

John grew up in a Lutheran home in Michigan. He was a believer from an early age and was active in the church youth group as a teenager. After high school, John earned a chemistry degree from Hope College in Holland, MI, and then a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of South Carolina. John then set off for sunny California where he did postdoctoral research for 2 years at the University of California, Irvine.

It was in California that John met his best friend and love of his life, Pat, in a singles group at a Presbyterian church. Even though John had already accepted a job at DuPont in Delaware, God’s plan was for them to be together. They were married in Delaware in 1991 and lived in the Philadelphia area for 25 years. John and Pat’s son Dustin was born in 1994. John enjoyed a long career as an organic chemist in drug discovery for DuPont and Bristol‑Myers Squibb. After being laid off in 2013, John made a career change which brought him to Covance in Madison in 2015 as a regulatory medical writer. He currently is a work-from-home regulatory medical writer for a biopharma company specializing in cancer drugs.

John and Pat have always been involved in a local church wherever they have lived and have enjoyed serving God through the church, usually in the area of hospitality. They have also led life groups and currently lead a Gospel Community group at Lakeview. God has been good to John and Pat through everything they have been through. They currently live in Cambridge with Dustin and with Finley, their adorably cute but naughty Sheltie. John and Pat enjoy pontooning on Lake Ripley, being outdoors, and landscaping around their home.
